Story Of the Year

My favorite part of high school is definitely traveling to away football games for marching band.  That is why when our band director informed us on the last day of Band Camp that we were not going to attend any of these games, my heart was crushed.  I knew this school year was destined to be awful.
Because of budget costs, the president of the school board decided to eliminate the band going to away games.  Attending the five away games would cost approximately eight thousand dollars.  The school board had to choose between eliminating away games or cut the fifth grade music program.  The board decided that fifth grade music is more important to young, aspiring musicians and that we would not be able to travel to the games.
However, a week after this article was published, a few anonymous donors donated the money in order for the marching band to attend away games.  Those donors were extremely generous and very important to the members of the marching band.  The band will always be grateful for those donors.  High school and marching band, would just not be the same, nor as fun, without being able to attend and perform at away games.
